These contests — always a popular attraction on the trade show floor — highlight the skills and expertise of the nation’s top apprentices in the plumbing and HVACR industries.

Awards are available to plumbing and HVACR apprentices working for PHCC members, trade school or community college students taking plumbing or HVAC classes, and college students pursuing majors directly related to plumbing or HVACR.

SupplyHouse.com pledged to donate $2 for every engagement on special social media posts made in November. The trades community showed up to support the cause, with social media sharing efforts earning a $57,000 contribution, a press release from the PHCC said.

A dedicated team of contractor volunteers arrived two days before the competitions to assemble the competitor test benches, distribute the materials and supplies and set up the testing areas.

The Educational Foundation is responsible for guiding the development of the PHCC's education and training programs for contractors and their employees.

Professor Kirk Alter put an A.I. to work calculating duct installation productivity rates and generating a construction delay notification letter to a general contractor.

Gerry Kennedy served as PHCC Education COO and PHCC National Association executive vice president.

The PHCC —National Association Educational Foundation scholarship program plans to award 56 scholarships totaling over $140,000. 

At the conclusion of this year's PHCC Educational Foundation annual Plumbing and HVAC Apprentice Contests, the company donated much of the materials used in the competitions to the Charlotte Region Habitat for Humanity organization.
