Grocer Shares How FlexCube System Revolutionizes Refrigeration
An HVAC Minute Video Update: March 12, 2025
Hunter's Shop 'n Save, located in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, experienced a devastating fire in January 2023. Undeterred, owner Dan Craffey spearheaded the construction of a new, expanded facility, culminating in the store's reopening on June 20, 2024. The new 16,000-square-foot space is 25% larger than its predecessor, reflecting Craffey's commitment to growth and innovation. Central to the store's modernization is the implementation of the FlexCube Supermarket Refrigeration System. This modular system utilizes A2L refrigerant R-454C, chosen for its low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 148, aligning with environmental sustainability goals. Each FlexCube unit contains approximately 25 pounds of refrigerant. Designed for both low- and medium-temperature applications, the system's modularity allows for scalability, enabling the addition of more units as refrigeration needs grow. Since the installation of the FlexCube system, Hunter's Shop 'n Save has realized significant energy savings. The monthly electric bill has decreased by approximately two-thirds, a testament to the system's efficiency. The refrigeration units maintain stable temperatures regardless of external conditions, enhancing product preservation and reducing waste. Craffey has expressed high satisfaction with the system, highlighting its quiet operation, compact design, and substantial energy efficiency. These improvements have collectively fostered a more sustainable and comfortable shopping environment for customers.
