Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market has opened the first grocery store in Southern California to use carbon dioxide (CO2) refrigeration. The store, located in Rosemead, is Fresh & Easy’s first to be GreenChill certified and is among four new stores that the company opened, including the 100th in California.
Butte College, a 21,000-student community college in Northern California, has announced its intent to become the first U.S. “grid-positive” college. The Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Prevention Act of 2010 (SB 183) has been signed into law by California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. SB 183 requires existing homes and dwelling units to be outfitted with carbon monoxide (CO) alarms, beginning in July 2011.
