SolarCity® has announced a new partnership with Nest Labs, creator of the Nest Learning Thermostat™. The company said the first 10,000 new customers in California who sign up with SolarCity will receive a Nest thermostat installed at no additional cost.

The Bosch RRC Smart Thermostat is a programmable room thermostat with integrated temperature sensor and remote boiler controller in one device. 

With the success of the program, the two organizations have joined forces again to continue the free collection program in 2015.

The root™ Google Android-based thermostat was created to navigate the interconnectivity of devices, appliances, protocols, and building systems.

Wi-Fi thermostat advancements have been talked about by many inside and outside the HVAC industry the last couple of years. The AHR Expo was no exception as a plethora of companies showcased just how smart their thermostats have become.

Nest share results from three energy-savings studies that indicated, on average, the Nest Learning Thermostat saved customers about 10-12 percent on their heating bills and 15 percent on their cooling bills.
