A report released by GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) found the U.S. installed 723 MW of solar energy in Q1 2013, which accounted for more than 48 percent of all new electric capacity installed in the U.S. last quarter.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has published a new rule requiring new federal buildings to meet higher energy efficiency standards. The rule applies to buildings for which design begins on or after one year after publication in the Federal Register. It updates federal commercial standards to the 2010 version of ASHRAE Standard 90.1.
The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced that it continues to save taxpayer dollars by increasing energy efficiency according to its sustainability and energy performance scorecard for fiscal year (FY) 2012, specifically reducing the energy intensity of its buildings by almost 25 percent.
