Read an interesting article recently concerning the purpose of having performance reviews. First of all, as a boss or manager, do you even do performance reviews for employees? If not, you really should. This author was rather skeptical of how performance reviews are accomplished overall.
The first step toward even having a chance to win the lotto (if you have one) in your home state is to actually purchase a ticket. Without entering, there’s no chance in you-know-where to take home the prize pot.
The NEWS thought it would be a good idea
to explore just what each segment of the industry (manufacturers, contractors,
and associations) is doing to help resolve the HVACR labor shortage problem.
I am happy to report that, for the most part,

Examine thoroughly the profiles of students that earned scholarships awarded by the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association (PHCC) Education Foundation and its industry partners. Believe it or not, more than $100,000 in scholarships was handed out this year.

It would be great if this much-needed industry (hey, everyone needs to be cool inside, warm inside, and refrigeration, right?) could duplicate the successful American advertising campaign created by the advertising agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners for the California Milk Processor Board in 1993, which was later licensed for use by milk processors and dairy farmers.
I have to take time out to congratulate HVAC instructor Robert Stringham and some of his thoughtful students at Edison Academy in Alexandria, Va. Stringham, students, and some staff members were scheduled to put on their third (and final) carbon monoxide awareness workshop Saturday (Oct. 27) at the Lowe’s store in nearby Woodbridge, Va.
The president of International Service Leadership (ISL) can certainly entertain contractor members. He proved that at the association’s owners’ conference held this past week (Oct. 10-12) in St. Louis. The affable leader had them, as the cliché goes, laughing in the aisles.
