From the Associated Press: Dallas police are
looking for a man who they said repeatedly sneaks into backyards, dances around
naked and then runs away. Police believe the man has been exposing himself in
the same neighborhood since 2005. The most recent incident was on Sept. 30.
One of my summer adventures came not on vacation, but while on assignment for The NEWS. That was to a Renewable Energy and Sustainability Lifestyle Fair. It took place on a hot and humid day at a county fair grounds about 100 miles west of Chicago. The emphasis was on wind and solar power.
It has been nine months since the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed rules affecting sales, distribution, and servicing of HVACR equipment as well as how much new HCFC-22 could be produced. Many in the industry have been waiting for those proposed rules to become final. Well, they apparently will have to wait a bit more.
The wind was howling and the sun was beating down to go along with the high heat and humidity. It was the perfect confluence of environmental conditions for the 8th Annual Renewable Energy and Sustainability Lifestyle Fair in Oregon, Ill., a rural area about 100 miles west of Chicago.
Part of USGBC is its Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. HVACR contractors
should find more and more buildings focused on seeking LEED recognition.
As contractors step up their willingness to use the reclamation option to offset decreasing supplies and increasing costs of virgin HCFCs, especially R-22, they are entering a sector of the market with especially complex chemical processes designed to produce refrigerants just as good as virgin HCFCs.
In the interest of full disclosure, I sometimes
(sometimes, mind you) watch bits of “The Price is Right.” My favorite aspect is
when the announcer says the prize is a new car. Except that he says, “A new
caaaaaaar!!!!!!!!!”
Many of my recent columns and blogs have been reflections on the past and the changes that have been going on in the industry. I was wondering why such remembrances were coming into my mind so often in recent months. Then it dawned on me that come 2010 I will have been in the HVACR industry for 25 years.
Well, there were probably close to a dozen local
HVAC companies with displays set up, one even having a unit running inside a
tent that had cold air strips in front. Fair sponsors said attendance was up this year
as the economy prevented many longer vacation trips in the summer.
