Former “Saturday Night Live” satirist and comedian, Al Franken, appears to have the U.S. Senate seat wrapped up in Minnesota. Maybe. His opponent is still fighting the results of the extremely narrow margin of victory, about 200 votes.
However, as a man who won his first election by 87 votes told me, “It just takes one to win.”
So, what does Al Franken think about HVAC? From his Website: “Renewable energy is win-win-win-win-win, and we should back it not only with our words, but with our resources. We should also invest in conservation - energy efficiency, light rail, and increased CAFE standards are all part of that.” I thought there are usually only two winners. I’m glad Franken has come up with five. Maybe I’ll be one of the extra winners.
The Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards are federal regulations intended to improve the average fuel economy of cars and trucks. Franken probably doesn’t yet understand SEER, EER, HP or AC, so I am going to write him a letter to be sure that, gosh darn it, he has some understanding of this industry.
If any of you, especially those of you from Minnesota, have any advice for Al, please let me know. I’ll be sure to include your input. Here is how the letter begins:
Dear Al,
Look in the mirror. Repeat after me: I deserve good things. I am entitled to my share of happiness. I am an attractive person. I am fun to be with. And, gosh darn it, I will be a great U.S. Senator.
