One thing that I have realized over the years is that the
service business can be extremely rewarding and give you that heart-felt
feeling of helping humanity. That overwhelming sense of responsibility to help
a fellow neighbor in their time of need, and that desire to do whatever it
takes to help the poor, helpless widow down the street. Join me now as I recall
one of those times…
Rrrring,…rrring….rrring… “Hello, Warm and Fuzzy HVAC
Service, this is Charles, how may we help you?”
“Listen to me you bastard, you get down here right now and
fix my f@%*n’ heat or else I’ll…”
“Ma’am, could I have your name please?”
“My name is Mrs. Rothschild, you donkey faced moron, why
aren’t you here yet!?!”
“Mrs. Rothschild have you used us before?”
“No, you idiot, ‘I haven’t
used you before’, you jerk! I’m damn cold and if you don’t get this fixed
within the hour I’m not payin’ you one red cent! Do you hear me, plumber boy?! Well, do ya?!?”
“Yes, ma’am, but we’re very busy and…”
“What?!! You people suck! I don’t care how busy you are, you
get over here right now, or I’m going to come down there with my dog, and we’re
both going to poop on your desk!!! How would you like that, Mr. Warm and Fuzzy,
huh!?!”
“Yes, ma’am, but…”
“And listen, you stupid gorilla, the driveway’s not plowed
so you’re going to have to park on the street and carry all of your stuff up
the hill, but I’d better not see any snow in my house, do you hear me,
Sparky!?!”
“Yes, but…”
“And don’t try to pull that ‘service call charge’ crap on me
either, you understand!?!”
Are there helpless souls like this that grace the phone
lines in your town, asking for your assistance too? I’m sure that you’ve had
your share, and undoubtedly will have more. It’s heartwarming to know that our
work is appreciated by the public.
