Stay Informed and Inform Customers
We've been paying close attention to this, and to the comments submitted to the DOE (submitted to no avail). It’s too soon to say exactly how this will affect us, as we’re not sure what the enforcement and waiver processes will look like, but we’re cautiously optimistic about the ability to get some common sense injected into this process during the enforcement rulemaking.
In either case, we’ve begun developing strategies to deal with it (we are in the Northern region, and will be particularly affected by it). We are posting about this on our blog (www.belred.com/blog) so we can begin to inform our customers about it. We’ve even begun meetings with our distributors to address concerns with inventory leading up to the rule taking effect, and to discuss options for inventory once the standards take effect to allow us to work with the waiver process.
With all that The NEWS, ACCA [Air Conditioning Contractors of America], and others have done to let contractors know about this, I'm not sure why there is any lack of awareness, but contractors had better get educated fast!
