But, as they say in my favorite television series, “Game of Thrones (GOT),” “Winter is coming.” And the HVAC Industry needs to get ready.
Traveling, at least to me, offers a lot of lessons about human nature, life, and yes, the HVAC industry. It can be a microcosm of entrepreneurship and business acumen. What? That’s crazy, right? But not really.
Sure, it’s great to attend live events put on by trade associations, manufacturers, and even trade publications, like this one, but no one can afford the time or money to attend them all. And, that is where the webinar becomes your friend.

Whether it’s NCI, ACCA, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA), or any of the many others, if you want to take your professional life to the next level, joining a professional organization related to your field is a great way to start.
Let’s face it — the HVACR industry simply isn’t portrayed as the vital and necessary component of modern living it should be. It’s not portrayed as being sexy or fun, but the truth is the HVACR industry truly is vital to our way of life.
Performance-based contracting is also changing the business model for the HVAC industry. Combined, they can be an unstoppable force. Don’t you want to be part of that?
So, despite all the techie methods for communicating and staying in touch with customers and vendors, the old-fashioned pressing of the flesh is still the best way to network, develop relationships, build up existing relationships, and learn a lot, all in one setting.
