Every HVAC manufacturer, distributor, and contractor is aware of the growing labor shortage within the skilled trades industries. Most have been working to combat the shortage by getting creative in recruitment efforts — much like Daikin Applied did at the 2019 AHR Expo.
This series features gears of high-strength, case-hardened alloy steel. The gearboxes are designed to fit into non-Marley cooling towers for easy replacement and have heavy-duty double-row interstage bearings for 100,000 hours of life or more.
Johnson Controls announced it has expanded its magnetic-bearing centrifugal chiller line, the York YMC2, to 1,000 tons of cooling (3,500 kW). The larger cooling capacity units address the need for reduced sound, high efficiency, and low maintenance as well as featuring magnetic bearing and oil free technology.
Because the recommendation is only for end-of-life replacement, the hope is that implementing this technology will result in a gradual greening of chillers across GSA’s facilities.
LUDECA has added two new models — the EDDYTHERM Portable and the EDDYTHERM 2x — to its line of induction heaters. Both the EDDYTHERM Portable and EDDYTHERM 2x allow precise setting of time and temperature to prevent premature bearing failures due to an improper or overheating installation.
The split universal mounting kit version (Split uKIT) of the AEGIS® SGR Bearing Protection Ring is designed to protect the bearings of variable frequency drive (VFD)-driven motors from electrical damage.
All major manufacturers of three-phase ac induction motors offer “inverter-duty” or “inverter-ready” models, but while these motors have inverter-rated insulation to protect the windings, the bearings — their most vulnerable parts — are too often ignored.
