The National Biodiesel Board (NBB) has launched a new consumer website aimed at raising public awareness about the benefits and availability of Bioheat® fuel. The site, mybioheat.com, replaces NBB’s previous Bioheat website, which had a split focus on educating consumers and providing tools for oilheat dealers.
The New York Oil Heating Association (NYOHA) is helping a teacher in the Bronx, New York, use clean-burning Bioheat® fuel as a teaching tool in HVAC training. Peter Gonzalez is teaching the science of Bioheat fuel — as well as math, chemistry, and English — to Bronx Design and Construction Academy juniors this fall.
Some contractors claim they have been converting oil equipment to natural gas at a record pace. But that doesn’t mean oil furnaces will fade from the marketplace, as there are many areas that have limited access to natural gas. In addition, it can be expensive to convert, and new oil furnaces can provide better comfort and higher efficiencies.
Bourne’s Energy has announced the opening of the first local biofuel blending plant in the central Vermont area. Bourne’s Energy was awarded a $45,000 grant through the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund to support the development of an injection blending operation for bioheat and biodiesel.
