The NEWS’ Best Instructor and Trainer contest aims to shine a spotlight on the best teachers and advisors across the HVACR industry, and this year was no different as one of the industry’s true workhorses, Ed Brink, division manager, technical training, Meier Supply Co., was honored as the nation’s Best Trainer contest winner.

Rick Downie, the manager of technical education for Bard Mfg. Co. Inc., has won the runner-up honors in the 2017 edition of The NEWS’ Best Trainer competition.

Jeff Adams, The NEWS’ 2016 Best Trainer winner and vice president of field services for Logan A/C & Heat Services in Dayton, Ohio, helped start the company's trianing program, which has grown so much that the company recently acquired a separate space to be devoted solely to technician training.

Since claiming the title of Best Trainer runner-up last year, Michael Goater, Success4Others’ self-proclaimed “chief motivator” and once again this year’s Best Trainer runner-up, has upped the ante at his Scottsdale, Arizona-based professional HVAC training and coaching organization.

The goal of the contests is to recognize and reward HVACR instructors and trainers who have dedicated their careers to enriching the lives of students. The nomination process is open to anyone who has seen firsthand the work an instructor or trainer has done to better the industry.

To help honor those who inspire our industry, The NEWS is now accepting nominations for its 17th annual Best Instructor Award and fourth annual Best Trainer Award. 

Barba’s industry knowledge, sharp sense of humor, and raw passion for helping others has earned him the respect of his peers and the title of The NEWS’ 2015 Best Trainer.

Goater’s commitment to Success4Others’ goal of helping “as many people as possible improve their quality of life, production, and earnings” has earned him the title of The NEWS’ 2015 Best Trainer runner-up.
