OTTAWA - The Canadian Department of Health has issued proposed guidelines for mold in residential buildings. After reviewing recent scientific studies and information regarding mold, the Minister of Health recommends that residential IAQ guidelines be put in place to control humidity and diligently repair any water damage in residences to prevent mold growth, and require thorough cleaning of any mold growth found in residential buildings. The recommendations apply regardless of the mold species found growing in the building.

Public comment is being sought during the current 60-day period. Any person may file written comments on the proposed guidelines with the Minister of Health.
