Charlie Vollhaber

Company: SVL Inc.
Title: Executive Vice President and Outsides Sales Engineer
Age: 34

Charlie Vollhaber is a third-generation sales engineer at SVL. His father, Todd Vollhaber, was CEO at the company before he retired in 2023. And his father’s father, Craig Vollhaber, was one of the co-founders of the company.

“I have grown up around the business, and my love of math and science helped get me through the challenging mechanical engineering program at the University of Minnesota,” Vollhaber said.

Vollhaber began his career at SVL in 2013. He attended the Daikin Applied’s graduate engineering training (GET) program, where he was exposed to the differing types of HVAC systems/equipment used in commercial HVAC projects.

“I love the problem-solving challenges that my job and our industry provide each day, and I could not do the work I do without the impressive people I work with at SVL and the amazing customers that I help support each day,” Vollhaber said.

The fact that Vollhaber started his HVAC career in the first place is an accomplishment to him in it of itself.

“It took years of challenging schoolwork and relationship building with the key decision makers at SVL to get the opportunity to begin my career at SVL,” Vollhaber said.

Another accomplishment of Vollhaber’s is helping to support the complicated, applied HVAC equipment design work of his mechanical customers.

“The HVAC equipment industry is ever changing and it’s important that I stay on top of the future needs/wants of my customers while also providing support and clear communication with construction projects in progress,” Vollhaber said. “The HVAC industry is in for a fun few decades as we figure out how to keep buildings comfortable and safe for occupants while using less energy to complete the mission.”

As the future progresses, Vollhaber wants to continue to be a trusted advisor for customers designing and installing commercial HVAC systems.

“While our manufacturer partners work hard to design and build next-generation HVAC equipment that can help our industry achieve net zero energy/decarbonization goals,” Vollhaber said. “I also look forward to continuing to help SVL grow as a company, providing a great place for employees to have successful careers.”
