The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has officially recognized ACR, The NADCA Standard for Assessment, Cleaning & Restoration of HVAC Systems, as a benchmark for HVAC system maintenance and cleaning. This standard, developed by NADCA: The HVAC Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Association, provides comprehensive guidelines for professional air duct cleaning and system restoration.
According to ANSI's assessment, the standard addresses a significant industry challenge where "a lack of updated guidance on the methodology and benefits of proper air duct cleaning created confusion among consumers and limited industry growth, while leaving potential energy efficiency gains untapped."
The impact of implementing ACR protocols has been substantial. A peer-reviewed study published in Energy and Buildings demonstrates that proper HVAC system cleaning can lead to significant energy savings.
