MAHWAH, NJ — On Aug. 14, 2002, Excellence Alliance member Brian Hughes of Hughes Environmental Engineering, Montvale, NJ, presented a check for $2,000 to student recipient Roberto Ustica. The presentation took place at Lincoln Technical Institute here in Mahwah.

The presentation was the highlight of the HVAC graduation ceremony.

The scholarship money came from the Excellence Alliance Foundation (EAF), whose stated intent is “to award as many scholarships as possible for the education of the future workforce in the contracting industry.”

According to the foundation, 100% of the contributions made to EAF go towards scholarships. Excellence Alliance, an organization whose mission is to create opportunities for independent HVAC contractors, covers the administrative expenses.

EAF said it provides funds to qualified educational institutions as described in Internal Revenue Code Section 170(b)(1)(A)(ii), “for distribution as qualified scholarships to individuals seeking education or training in the contracting industry.”
