Our success has come from finding and training good quality people and then setting them out on a path of personal success. In as few words as possible, my advice is to simply let it go!
Don’t do like we did and wait for something to happen. Give a little thought to how the business would handle not having any one of its key employees. Quick, do it now, before the next disaster strikes.
As we move from one crises to the next, we’re forced to put out fires of all kinds along the way and answer to issues that occur with our employees on a daily or hourly basis. Given the circumstances, it’s very easy to get distracted from our main purpose.
Are you still questioning the need for reviews in your company? I hope not. Everyone in your company deserves to know and understand the direction the company is headed and their role in the company’s future.
The important thing we contractors have to remember is that not only are we helping ourselves by selling these accessories, but we are making our customers’ homes more comfortable and livable.
Contractors, please carefully look at how you do business. Please don’t resort to tactics that set our industry back to the 1950s. We are an industry that does the public a tremendous service. It’s unfair to our customers, and the industry as a whole, if we lower ourselves to these unethical sales standards.
Your company, branch, or department will achieve much more if you lead that group rather than act as its boss. A great New Year’s resolution would be to resolve to be a leader and not a boss.
Just like being thankful should be more important than Black Friday, planning for the New Year should be much more important to you than partying on New Year’s Eve. Happy holidays, everyone!
