According to a new study released by The Freedonia Group, demand in the United States for HVAC equipment is projected to increase 5.1 percent annually to $16.8 billion in 2015. Advances will be stimulated by growth in residential and many types of nonresidential construction spending from a low 2010 base.
At Lindberg’s Cove Resort in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, using heat from 1952 oil space heaters, John Lindberg kept five guest cabins open year-round. But with the rising cost of heating oil, he began to look for ways to cut his energy costs.
The GeoComfort® Compass® Series WT water-to-water heat pump model is available in sizes from 2 to 5 tons, and 8 through 12 tons. The 036 through 092 WT water-to-water models meet the stringent Energy Star Tier 3 requirements that take effect on Jan. 1, 2012.
The National Ground Water Association (NGWA) has announced plans to develop an American National Standards Institute third-party accredited standard for the construction of vertical boreholes used in closed-loop ground source heat pump systems.
The Versatec™ Base combines high efficiency and value-added features in a compact water-source heat pump for water loop and geothermal applications. Tthe heat pump model is said to exceed American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) 90.1 efficiencies.
The XT Series Models 024-048 packaged geothermal heat pumps are now standard with the all-aluminum microchannel air coil by Delphi®. According to the manufacturer, the all-aluminum coil utilizes 40 percent less material than a standard tube-and-fin copper/aluminum coil.
Bob and Tim have arrived back at the apartment building where they have been working for several days inspecting and making necessary repairs to the building’s split-system heat pumps. Bob said, “Check the list for another unit that seemed to have a problem and let’s take a closer look at it.”
Since the tax credit program became available, all types of geothermal options have been on the minds of the building community. The earth loop, often referred to as the refrigerant loop, may be installed in three different configurations: diagonal, vertical, and horizontal.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced the availability of a report — Hybrid Ground-Source Heat Pump Installations: Experiences, Improvements and Tools — that DOE says demonstrates hybrid ground-source heat pumps (GSHP) as a viable solution to reduce energy use in commercial buildings.
