A study shows that the business environment for HVACR distributors is shifting following a pandemic-driven boom and higher-than-normal gross margins. 

The annual sales growth for the 12 months through September 2024 is an increase of 2.3%. 

"The strong sales growth during July 2024 was due to two extra billing days," said Brian Loftus, HARDI’s macroeconomic and residential market analyst.

Heating, Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI) released its monthly TRENDS report, showing sales by HARDI distributors increased by 1.9% during June 2024.

“The modest flat/up results so far this year are consistent with our expectations that 2024 is the bottom of this cycle,” said Brian Loftus, HARDI’s macroeconomic and residential market analyst.

The annual sales growth rate, among HVACR distributors participating in the survey, for the 12 months through April 2024 was 2.2%.

March sales fell by 8.7% among distributors participating in HARDI's monthly survey; the 12-month rate, through March, declined slightly.

“After the flat sales during 2023, it looks like we are off to a good start with 9% sales growth during January and 7.7% during February,” said Brian Loftus, HARDI’s macroeconomic and residential market analyst.

But sales during the 12 months through January 2024 increased by just 0.2%
