The 2017 IE3 Show, held March 20-22 in Nashville, Tennessee, welcomed a record-breaking number of attendees this year, drawing in people from all throughout the country. Featuring 26 workshop sessions that included both roundtable discussions with industry veterans and ask the expert sessions where contractors could ask professionals questions on varying issues, the show was quite an informative success.

In mid-November, President-Elect Donald Trump announced a $1 trillion investment in infrastructure over the next 10 years — more than twice the proposed plan of President Barack Obama and more than three times the last congressionally approved infrastructure plan. With unprecedented spending in repairing and expanding the nation’s airports, highways, bridges, and pipelines, building product manufacturers and installers must be ready to effectively place their products and services in the hands and minds of decision makers to ensure inclusion in new projects. Preparation for the next 10 years of projects must begin now, and few manufacturers and contractors have cohesive plans to become specified in the long term.

Air source heat pumps comprise a significant amount of total heat pump demand, largely due to the easier installation requirements and lower initial costs than geothermal heat pumps. Air source heat pumps also compete more directly with other HVAC equipment and are a viable heating and cooling option in most buildings.
