These rooftop units can be configured at the factory, so consultant engineers or design-build contractors can get the exact spec unit they need delivered to the job site. With more than 35 options per tonnage size, there are more than 750,000 unit configurations available.
The Benchmark Platinum Boiler features dual-return capabilities that allow engineers to take full advantage of diverse load demands specific to a site in order to design the most efficient system possible. This boiler’s dual returns keep cold water separate, creating a large condensing zone in the heat exchanger that improves boiler efficiency.
Compatible with ColorTouch® and Explorer™ (formerly Voyager®) Wi-Fi residential and commercial thermostats, this wireless temperature sensor is designed to save energy while improving indoor comfort. It’s available throughout North America and can be used indoors or outdoors with the on-board sensor or an external sensor, such as the included duct sensor.
The amount of hours technicians are trained, the types of training required, and the trainings technicians attend are all fluid elements HVAC contractors must navigate on a case-by-case basis.
According to Automotive Fleet’s 25th annual operating cost survey, 2016 marked the fourth consecutive year fleet operating costs remained stable, primarily due to lower gas and diesel prices. Other contributing factors include newer, more fuel-efficient vehicles and the increased implementation of telematics systems that result in improved route optimization and allow companies to easily identify drivers who are engaging in behaviors that decrease miles per gallon (mpg).
For contractors, warranties may help differentiate specific product tiers and, with extended service contracts, improve the value proposition to customers.
Compliance with the EPA’s 608 is a mandatory part of HVAC contracting. Techs are required to gain certification by an EPA-approved organization and pass their tests or else they are unqualified to work in the field.
In last month’s article, “Inside Filter Driers,” which appeared on Page 18 of the Feb. 6 issue of The NEWS, we covered the internal construction, filtering, and drying materials within a refrigerant filter drier. This month, we’ll deal with troubleshooting, service, and replacement of the filter drier.
Not understanding how some electronic controls operate and control a system can lead to misdiagnosing a system problem and costly repairs. It is best never to assume, but rather take the time to do some research and find out exactly how they operate. Guessing is rarely good and generally will lead to a misdiagnosis and cause a tech to replace the wrong part or component.
