System design, performance, and service conditions must be evaluated when retrofitting with a zeotropic or near-azeotropic refrigerant blend. Always follow the refrigerant manufacturer’s retrofit guidelines before retrofitting with any refrigerant, or system performance could be affected and/or injury may occur.

There is a vast selection of refrigerants, and sometimes a technician has a choice in selecting a refrigerant for a particular system. Knowing some of the basic properties of refrigerants can assist a technician in making that selection.

Daikin Industries Ltd. has announced that it is offering companies worldwide free access to 93 patents to encourage the development and commercialization of air conditioning, cooling, and heat pump equipment that uses HFC-32 as a single-component refrigerant.

Frascold, the second largest manufacturer of semi-hermetic compressors in Europe and the third largest in the world, has opened a subsidiary company in the United States: Frascold USA Inc. Frascold USA will directly support both the U.S. and Canadian markets on behalf of Frascold. The head office will be located in Seattle.

We all know the refrigeration industry isn’t an easy one. There’s competition, pressure from customers, challenges finding good people, and much more. At such times, it’s important to not lose sight of how far the refrigeration industry has come.
