Kendra Tupper is a senior consultant with Rocky Mountain Institute (Boulder, CO), an independent, non-profit, think-and-do tank. She is a licensed mechanical engineer and has over 10 years of experience in whole building energy simulation and life cycle cost analysis, energy-efficient HVAC design and controls, energy audits for existing buildings, and renewable energy systems. She is a member of ASHRAE and IBPSA-USA.
Achieving deep energy savings is especially challenging when you’re faced with an existing structure with poor orientation, historic preservation requirements, and little space for renewables. The Byron Rogers Federal Office Building’s retrofit is scheduled to be completed in 2013; the post-renovation building is projected to consume less than half the energy it did before.
