The winners of the 2014 AHR Expo Innovation Awards have been selected and will be honored at a ceremony on Jan. 22. The AHR Expo will come to the Javits Convention Center in New York City, Jan. 21-23.
The Innovation Awards encompass a cross-section of the HVACR industry. The winning entries were selected in 10 categories from a panel of judges made up of ASHRAE members who evaluated the products based on innovation, application, and value to the user and market impact.
In the building automation category, Belimo Aircontrols (USA) Inc. was the winner for its Belimo BAS Data Logging Energy Valve. Emerson Climate Technologies was chosen as the winner in the cooling category for its Next Generation Copeland Scroll Variable Speed compressor product line.
In the green building category, Lafert North America was chosen for its High Performance Metric Motors. WaterFurnace International is the winner in the heating category for its 7 Series 700A11 geothermal heat pump.
NEPTRONIC is the winner in the indoor air quality category for its SKD Direct Multi-Steam Injection Humidifier. Rheem Manufacturing Co. is the winner in the plumbing category for its Prestige Series Hybrid Electric Heat Pump Water Heater.
The winner in the refrigeration category is Danfoss for its MADAP-Kool System Manager AK-SM 800 Series. HVAC Solutions is being honored in the software category for the Revit Connection 2.0 BIM Software Add-in.
Imperial is the winner in the tool and instruments category. The company is being honored for its Imperial iManifold. Big Ass Fans rounds out the list by winning the ventilation category. The manufacturer was chosen for its Haiku Ceiling Fan.
One of the 10 category winners will also be selected as the overall winner of the 2014 AHR Expo Product of the Year Award. Winners will receive placards to display at their booths during the show as well as an etched crystal award to display at their headquarters.
More than $10,000 was generated from entry fees for the awards. These fees will be donated to a charitable organization in the New York area. Since its inception in 2003, the Innovation Awards competition has donated over $100,000 to charities and educational institutions.
