Evapco, Inc., has acquired majority ownership of Semco Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Division, located in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The company is now operating under the name Evapco Semco Equipamentos de Refrigeração Ltda. The new company retains its current staff, and Jose Alignani Neto continues as CEO, now reporting to Evapco Vice President of Finance Adam Michel in EVAPCO’s world headquarters in Taneytown, MD.
According to the companies, the acquisition is mutually beneficial for both Evapco and Semco, as Evapco gains a manufacturing presence in South America, expanding the company’s global footprint in the commercial HVAC, industrial refrigeration, power generation, and industrial process markets. Semco is now able to grow its business in South America by incorporating Evapco’s product lines into its offerings, including the latest advancements in heat transfer efficiency, water conservation, and sound reduction technology.
“This is one of those ‘2+2=5’ business opportunities that will benefit many customers in South America,” said William Bartley, president and CEO of Evapco, Inc. “For Evapco, the Semco business is a good fit for two primary reasons. First, it gives Evapco a manufacturing presence in South America as we grow our global footprint. Second, the extremely high quality people employed by Semco fit very well into Evapco’s business culture which is driven by the philosophy, ‘people make the difference.’”
