Emerson will discuss CO2 transcritical booster adoption during ATMOsphere America 2017, held at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort in San Diego from June 5-7. Emerson says it will also discuss the effectiveness of this solution through a case study within one of the company’s facilities, The Helix Innovation Center.
The company said CO2 transcritical booster systems have proven very effective in cooler climates as a natural alternative to high global warming potential hydrofluorocarbon systems for decades. However, the desire to expand adoption of these systems in warmer climates has led to the development of several strategies to expand CO2 viability.
Emerson’s Helix Innovation Center provides work spaces for evaluating different strategies to develop sustainable models. It offers the opportunity for multiple stakeholders to brainstorm and develop data-driven justifications in controlled conditions while simulating real-life scenarios. One such real-life scenario is the use of a transcritical CO2 booster system, while assuring constant loading of cases and cold rooms, to systematically test the weather-normalized energy impact of eight system strategies at 18 different ambient conditions.
Dates and times for Emerson’s sponsored or hosted events highlighting adoption and growth of transcritical CO2 booster systems are:
• Pre-Event Workshop: Strategies for Expanding Transcritical CO2 Booster Adoption, June 5 from 10 a.m. to noon. Register at Emerson.com/CO2Workshop
• Panel: Market Trends & Opportunities, June 6 from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
• Case Study: The Helix Innovation Center: Providing Infrastructure to Enable Adoption of Natural Refrigerants, June 6 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Andre Patenaude, director of CO2 business development with Emerson’s Commercial and Residential Solutions platform, will be participating in the workshop on June 5 and sessions on June 6. Patenaude is responsible for developing the global strategy around the company’s CO2 industry stewardship, marketing initiatives, and channel training as it relates to CO2 refrigeration systems.
