ASHRAE and IBPSA-USA have announced a call for papers for the 2018 ASHRAE Building Performance Analysis Conference and SimBuild. The conference will be held Sept. 26-28, 2018 at the Hilton Chicago.

This conference will expand on the core subject of energy modeling to include non-energy building performance analysis and simulation for professionals responsible for such work. The conference’s goal is to provide the most up-to-date resources, work flows, and processes required to support improved planning, design, construction, and operation of high-performing buildings that are low-energy consuming, environmentally-responsive and responsible, safe, secure, and healthy for human occupancy.

“Building performance modeling is transforming the industry to meet the net zero and Architecture 2030 design goals, improving operational efficiency and occupant comfort,” said Krishnan Gowri, conference chair. “Incorporating an integrated approach is a method that can deliver substantial gains in terms of designing and assessing the environmental cost of buildings. This conference offers the most current tools and best practices, reducing energy use, maximizing performance, improving aspects of the design, and creating a higher performing building.”

The conference seeks papers addressing the following topics:

• Buildings and information technology nexus

• Modeling advances

• Early design

• Multiple systems modeling

• Big data

• Health, wellness, and comfort

• Energy performance and system simulation

• Codes, standards, and compliance

Abstracts are due Oct. 23, 2017. Upon acceptance, papers are due Feb. 2, 2018.

The conference program will include keynote speakers, invited speaker sessions, panels, presentations, and the fourth ASHRAE LowDown Showdown modeling competition.
