Dewberry Associate Alex Harwell has been appointed to the position of associate board member for the North Carolina Healthcare Engineers Association (NCHEA).
NCHEA is a state organization of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association, which is devoted to professionals who design, build, maintain, and operate hospitals and other health care facilities. Members include health care facility managers, engineers, architects, designers, contractors, and infection control specialists. In his role as associate board member, Harwell acts as a liaison between the board and associate members, serves on committees as appointed by the NCHEA board or president, and is granted voting rights.
Harwell has been with Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, for more than five years and has nearly two decades of experience in mechanical engineering, including utility and facility systems design, operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance for health care and other facilities. Located in the Raleigh, North Carolina, office, he works as a client and project manager overseeing numerous healthcare-related projects across North Carolina and southern Virginia. Early in his career, Harwell spent 10 years as an enlisted nuclear machinist’s mate in the U.S. Navy.
Harwell holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from Old Dominion University (2007) and is a member of ASHE.
