The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has delayed the effective date of certain amendments to its Risk Management Program (RMP) rule until Feb. 19, 2019.

The capacity of a compressor can be affected by a refrigeration system’s ever-changing pressures. In addition, suction pressure entering the compressor will change the density of the suction gasses within the compressor and affect its capacity.

President Donald Trump’s decision to pull the United States out of the Paris climate agreement made headlines, but the Montreal Protocol – and particularly its 2016 Kigali amendment  –potentially affects the HVACR industry in a much larger way. The EPA estimates the annual emissions reductions from this rule will be approximately 7.3 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MMTCO2eq) and 114 ozone-depletion weighted metric tons (ODP tons).
